Well, we're glad you asked! We're a small, family-owned business based in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

HelioPIXS was born out of a simple idea: to celebrate the moments and people who make life colourful.

It started with a moment our founder, Erica, couldn't stop thinking about.

One evening, after staring at her laptop all day, she sat down to relax and found herself scrolling on her phone in front of the TV. Her husband Jay was sitting right beside her, doing the same thing. Two people who love each other, in the same room, somewhere else entirely.

It sounds small, but the realization hit her hard.

Because it wasn't just that evening. It was the pattern. How easy it had become to let real life slip into the background. How the people and moments that actually fill you up like the late dinners, the trips you still talk about years later, the random Tuesday that somehow turns into one of the best days you can remember kept getting crowded out by screens, schedules, and the low hum of being constantly online. 

Life was never meant to be lived through a screen. The best parts will always happen offline, with the people we choose, in the moments we're actually present for.

HelioPIXS exists to celebrate those moments, honour the people who make life feel full and to create a little more space for both.

Ah, if we got a dollar every time someone asked us this 😉. HelioPIXS is a nod to both the past and present, blending the magic of old-school photography with the convenience of modern tech:

"Helio" is a nod to heliography which is the process used to take the world’s very first surviving photograph back in 1826. It’s our way of tipping the hat to the roots of photography and the timelessness of printed images.

"PIXS" is a playful spin on pixels, the tiny building blocks of today’s digital photos. And of course, a casual way of saying “pics” or “pictures.”
